Life is what you make of it.
Deu 30:19
I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, [that] I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live:

You can either follow after the Ways of The Lord or you can follow after the dictates of your own corrupted heart.
Rom 8:5
For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit.
Gal 6:8
For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting.

The justified shall live by faith (the willingness to abandon one's own ways in favor of God's way) and faith is the victory that overcomes the world.
2Ch 7:14
If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.
1Jo 5:4
For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, [even] our faith.

He who lacks faith (ie. walks after his own ways) is overcome by the world and suffers perpetual defeat.
Luk 9:24
For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: but whosoever will lose his life for my sake, the same shall save it.

He who hearkens to the lust of his own flesh and the dictates of his own corrupted heart walks a pathway that leads to destruction.
Mat 7:13
Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide [is] the gate, and broad [is] the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat:

For the wages of sin is death.
Rom 6:23
For the wages of sin [is] death; but the gift of God [is] eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

He that serves sin is not free but is a slave to every whim of his own flesh.
Jhn 8:34-36
Jesus answered them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whosoever committeth sin is the servant of sin.
And the servant abideth not in the house for ever: [but] the Son abideth ever.
If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed.

He who walks in the Spirit and lives by faith is free indeed and is already on the pathway that leads to everlasting life and victory.
Gal 5:16
[This] I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh.
Rom 8:1
[There is] therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.
2Cr 3:6
Who also hath made us able ministers of the new testament; not of the letter, but of the spirit: for the letter killeth, but the spirit giveth life.
Jhn 5:24
Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.

This is the patience of the Saints.
Rev 14:12
Here is the patience of the saints: here [are] they that keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus.
