All hope is gone and our strength is dried up and we have been utterly vanquished.
Our bright light has been extinguished and we live in dire fear of our lives.
These were some of the thoughts of hopelessness and discouragement the Apostles experienced
on the day after Jesus's crucifixion.
Their hope was dashed into a million pieces.
Never in their whole lives had they felt so defeated.
Tears of mourning were in their eyes because the wonderful man they had grown to love so
deeply was dead.
"What are we going to do now?" one apostle would ask of another.
They all planned to return to their old jobs and ways.
Then at the crack of dawn on the third day Jesus Christ arose from the dead!
He is Risen! He is Risen was now their cry.
